I don't actually understand the ordinary people supporting Khodorkovsky. Taking into account of what he did he should be in prison for much longer. It's not only about tax avoidance.
Now, with that being said, last week Vladimir Putin sent a bill to Russia parliament calling on transparency of offshore accounts and a ban on setting up accounts abroad for state officials and their family members. I believe there are ways to side-step the bans but still it might be a good omen. Will there be a ban for the companies either as it is always B2B (covert companies) money-laundering via offshore transactions?
