1-12 Phillip island

Phillip island. 3 January 2015. Taken by Canon PowerShot G16.

We arrived at San Remo by the time of Pelican feeding. Then we directed to the Newhaven Yacht club, the marine area here is very picturesque and there are barbeque places. After we had a mini barbeque we moved on to the Koala Conservation centre, then to the Nobbies centre and later on to the Pinguin parade spot. In the end of our trip we had a barbeque again. We saw many birds and animals on this trip. The photos taken are hereunder.

Подъехали к Сан Ремо ровно к тому времени, когда кормят пеликанов. Потом проехали к Ньюхэйвен яхтеному клубу, морская гавань здесь очень живописна и есть место для барбекью. А после небольшого барбекью отправились к Коала центру, потом центр Ноббис, Центр парада пингвинов и наконец опять барбекью. По дороге встречались птицы и звери. Фото прилагаются.

Our navigator messed it all up by choosing the way to Stony Point ferry berth rather than the direct way to Phillip island. We had to return and it took us almost two hours to get to our destination point.

Путеводитель все перепутал и вместо прямого пути на остров Филипп повез нас к паромной переправе в Стоуни Поинт. Пришлось возвращаться и дорога заняла у нас почти два часа.

3-12 Phillip island

We stopped off at San Remo to watch daily midday pelican feeding by a volunteer on the foreshore. Pelicans are independent on humans and they come if they want to. Sometimes there are plenty of them. On the day before there were 35 pelicans, but we were unlucky. There was just a single female pelican. She waited to be treated with fish and tolerated the tourists. I think pelicans come to the shore when they see people gatherings near the place, that's a sign for them. Seagulls come too.

Каждый день в 12 дня на берегу устраивают мини шоу - кормление пеликанов. Пеликаны птицы свободные. Иногда прилетает их много. За день до нашего приезда пеликанов было 35, сказал ведущий. Нам не повезло. Была одна девочка-пеликан. Терпеливо ждала рыбку и терпела туристов. Мне кажется, пеликаны знают, если собралось много людей, это знак, что будут давать рыбу. Ну и чайки тоже тут.

After watching the pelican feeding we crossed the bridge and just turned to the right. The guys were looking for a nice barbeque place, meanwhile I fell in love with the Newhaven Yacht marina. On a sunny day like this it is just an amazing lookout.

Потом мы проехали мост. И просто повернули направо. Ребята искали место для барбекью, а мне понравилась яхтенная гавань Ньюхэйвен. В солнечный день невероятно красивое место.

5-12 Phillip island

It was here that we came across the only seal on our trip. To see more of seals you have to take a boat trip to the Seal Rock in the bay near the Nobbies. The seal we met was nicknamed by the locals the Grumpy because of his bad temper. He came to this place three years ago and now he thinks he owns this territory. He scares everyone who tries to cross the boundaries of his realm with a loud sound. Fishermen get scared as well and give fish offcuts to seagulls and pelicans leaving the silly seal without lunch.

Здесь нашелся один единственный тюлень на нашем пути. Чтобы познакомится с тюленями лучше брать морской круиз и на катере подъезжать к скале в океане у места Ноббис, где они купаются. Попавшийся нам тюлень местные жители прозвали Злобный (Грампи) за плохой характер. Он облюбовал это место три года назад и считает его своей территорией. Грампи отпугивает даже рыбаков, которые чистят рыбу на столе установленном здесь. Не понимает, что себе же делает плохо. Рыбаки бросают рыбьи внутренности чайкам и пеликанам.
