The remains of the cattle jetty built in 1879. Late in the19th century migrants brought to Australia their horses, sheep and other livestock. Procedures were needed to check the health of incoming animals. A holding yard for animals was located nearby.-------- Остатки пирса, где выгружали крупный рогатый скот. And last but not least, the Range Area, the most amazing place on our trip. We got there accidentally by simply following the Monash track from the place where military cadets had lessons in shooting in 1962-1985. The Monash Light is a good observation point. This place is surreal. It looks like the edge of the Earth and the Eternity as well. There is the Phillip Bay view in front and the Ocean behind.---------- Наконец, самое потрясающее место. Попали сюда случайно. Просто пошли по тропинке. От места, где кадеты Военной школы в 1962-1985 годах стреляли по мишеням в качестве учения. Белые стульчики - их позиции для стрельбы. С третьего фото тропа Монаш, по которому мы поднялись к Монаш Маяку, отличной точки осмотра местности. Это место просто нереальное. Ощущение конца света и Тщетности, но и Бесконечности одновременно. С одной стороны океан, а с другой - залив, на котором Мельбурн построен.

Italian Masterpieces from Prado exhibition at NGV runs until 31 August. So time left is limited. Brought are paintings by Caravaggio, Veronese, Raphael, Titian, Tintoretto, Tiepolo (trio of father and two sons), Andrea di Lione. Only one Madonna painting by Raphael. Five paintings by Titian, the first painter collected by the Spanish royal family. I absolutely loved still lifes by Mario Nuzzi and Andrea Belvedere. And some drawings, a Chimera by Jacopo Ligozzi in particular mesmerised me. Three unique books Life of Eminent Artists by Vasari lie open under the glass.
There is also a Vasari drawing Saint Luke painting the Virgin, it shows an artist starting to paint a canvas upon which the composition is already sketched. St. Luke (San Luca) is the patron saint of artists, supposedly he was a painter himself. Legend has it that he painted a portrait of Mary from life, with her actually sitting there.
Summing up, Prado is Prado and I would like to go to Prado to see the rest, particularly Spaniards Velasquez and Goya, Flemish artist Hieronymus Bosch.

I am not in the mood to watch dramas on TV. So I chose 160-episode Brazilian soap opera Brazil Avenue. Just wondering the characters have so many misfortunes and tragedies of their own, but the series is watched as if it were a comedy. Once the Brazilians were the only ones who could create such a thing.

Подумала недавно, а ведь у героев сериала куча неприятностей, горестей и бед, почему тогда смотришь сериал как комедию. Когда-то только бразильские сериалы были такими нескрываемо наигранными.

I had my blood test done today. The results will be tomorrow afternoon. Nothing worries me, just a general health check-up. There were no patients in Medical Centre on Hastings Road, but a very friendly medical brother.

From most exclusive to least and from highest quality to least: Alligator skin (exclusive), Deerskin (can be wet), Goatskin (delicate, prone to "peeling" ), Lambskin (soft, lightweight, prone to stretching), Calfskin (the firmest, has a balance of softness vs durability) and Pigskin.
Shearling is softer to the touch and lighter in weight than Sheepskin.

My granddad Eugene (my dad's dad). Photo assumably taken in the 1940s, before WWII started. He is in his early 20s on the photo. According to the official records he was killed on 8/8/1942, but this date is not accurate. He was only 25-26 when he passed away. He served in a tank division and was a lieutenant during WWII. His tank was fired and set on fire. My granddad was shot dead when trying to escape the fire in the battle somewhere in the western Ukraine. So I was told. My granddad has never been properly buried as per our Christian rituals. He is in the Unknown Soldier tomb. Neither me nor my dad saw him. R.I.P. Hero. 1917-1942

Мини сериал Богатсво (Mammon) 2014

Mammon is a Norwegian 6-episode series. It is a thriller noir, just to my taste, very intensive and clever. By the way, Mammon is a term, derived from the Christian Bible, meaning "dishonest gain". Mammon was personified as a false god in the New Testament. You can not serve both God and Mammon.
A really nice movie. Love Scandinavian cinematography.

Триллер нуар Маммон, 6 серий, Норвегия. Интенсивный, захватывающий сюжет, очень умно заверчено. Понравился актер, исполняющий главную роль Питера. Кстати, Маммон термин из Христианской Библии, означающий "богатство, нажитое нечестным путем". Маммон - это неправильный бог, которого избирают себе в качестве поклонения одержимые жадностью люди. Нельзя одновременно думать о Боге и Маммоне. 
Как всегда скандинавское кино на высоте.
