The idea to go to the Werribee Park came up to me all of a sudden due to bad weather conditions across the state of Victoria. The Park is large and well kept. The Werribee Mansion didn't impress, but it was useful to get a peek into the life of well-off Australians who lived in the end of the 19th century.

Идея поехать в Вериби Парк возникла спонтанно из-за непривычно холодной погоды в штате Виктория. Вериби Парк большой и ухоженный. Вериби Особняк не впечатлил, но посмотреть как жили обеспеченные австралийцы в конце 19 века было интересно.

It takes about 45 minutes to get to Werribee in light traffic conditions. As usual we set off at Ormond train station. It was easy to find the Werribee Park but as for me I don't know this part of the city and I don't like it.

До Вериби примерно 45 минут на машине без траффика. Как обычно мы ехали от Ормонд станции. Парк найти легко, хотя я лично эту часть Мельбурна не знаю и не люблю. На фото ниже - вход в Парк.

The Park is well kept. Tree identification plates both in English and Latin are mounted on most of the trees. There is a beautiful orchidee on the first photo hereunder. August must be the time of their blooming.

За Парком хорошо следят, на деревьях висят таблички с названием породы на латинском и английском. На первом фото ниже - красивая орхидея, время их цветения.

The vista of the Werribee Hotel and Spa. The Hotel was built later as an extension to the Mansion.

Это вид на Отель и Спа Вериби. Отель был пристроен к Особняку позже.

The Werribee Mansion was built in Italianate style in 1877 by two brothers of Scottish origin who made their fortunes from wool export. From 1923 to 1973 The Mansion was occupied by Catholic seminary. In 1973 the Mansion was purchased by Victorian Government.

На фото ниже - Вериби Особняк. Построен в 1877 году в итальянском стиле по заказу двух братьев шотландского происхождения, которые сделали свое состояние на продаже и экспорте овечьей шерсти. С 1923 по 1973 годы в особняке была Католическая семинария. В 1973 году особняк приобретен Правительством штата Виктория.

The lawn in front of the Park is in geometrical style. What a surprise planted on the lawn are Viola tricolors, lovely modest flowers which were popular in Ukraine when I was a child.

We saw a baobab and birches in the Park.

These huge cones fall from the pine growing nearby. In unlucky situation such a cone can damage someone's head.

Такие шишки падают с сосны, что здесь растет. Может в кровь разбить голову, если неудачно упадет.

The Park occupies 10 hectares of land. Taking into account that it was meant for one family, it's huge.

Кстати, Парк занимает территорию в 10 гектаров. Он довольно большой, учитывая что изначально предназначался для одной семьи.

There is a beautiful pool and grotto.

Pines in the Park. I tried to capture the needles of one of the pines. They look soft, but hard and sharp in reality. Check out the second photo hereunder.

Сосны в Парке. На втором фото я попыталась сфотографировать крупным планом иголки одной сосны, кажутся, что они мягкие, в реальности - жесткие и колючие.

It's free to enter the Park, but will cost you $9.50 to go inside the Mansion. It's a wise price strategy. Most of the visitors to the Park will choose to visit the Mansion either as the ticket price is not high. The atmosphere of the Mansion is opulent. I just didn't like the use of killed animals as decorations, but I guess it was in keeping with the times. I really liked the timber furniture and carvings on the ceilings and walls. There is a fire place in each room.

Вход в Парк бесплатный. В особняк - $9.50. Разумная ценовая стратегия. Большинство посетителей Парка отправляются в Особняк, так как недорого. Внутри очень роскошное убранство. Не понравились мне украшения из животных, но это в духе и по моде того времени. Понравилась добротная деревянная мебель и резьба на стенах и потолках. В каждой комнате - камин.

The red Living room is the most opulent in the Mansion. It's located on the Ground floor near the entrance.

There is a Bedroom connected with a Cabinet and a Bathroom. I assume these apartments were meant for guests.

Рядом Спальня, которая соединена с Кабинетом и Ванной комнатой. Думаю, предназначалась для гостей.

There is also a Billiard room on the ground floor. It does have many killed animals decorations, a chair made from an elephant leg and even a mummy of a dog under glass. Although beautiful, this room left an unpleasant feeling.

На первом этаже находится также Билльярдная. Здесь как раз много украшений из убитых животных, стулья из ног слона и даже есть мумия собаки под стеклом. Неприятный осадок от увиденного.

There is a Veranda next to the Billiard room. It has lovely woven chairs and tables.

The Grand Dining room is on the ground floor.

The staircase leads up to the private part of the house.

Лестница ведет в более интимную часть дома.

Located on the first floor are bedrooms and a Children's room.

На втором этаже расположены спальни и детская комната.

You are allowed to play with items in the Children's room. Balances, blackboards, chalks had been used in schools till the middle of the 1990s. The toys - soldiers and a wooden horse, dolls theater replaced by dear-movies in the 1970s - are lovely.

В Детской комнате разрешено трогать предметы, играть с ними. Счеты, доски, мел - эти предметы использовались в школах вплоть до середины 90х. Очень милые игрушки - солдатики и лошадка, кукольный театр, которому на смену пришли диафильмы в 70е.

I think it's a Ladies' room.

Chintz room. Judging by the name, the room should be in Indian colonial style, shouldn't it? The room is light and beautiful.

The furniture was taken out from this blue room for shooting set in a movie.

The kitchen is located downstairs in a separate wing of the Mansion. It's simple and ascetic. We can guess how hard was life and work of cooks and kitchen hands at that time.

Кухня, конечно же внизу и в отдельном крыле дома. Здесь все просто и аскетично. Но можно оценить насколько сложной была работа поваров в то время.
